A while back I did a news post on an interesting item - Screw Catcher Magnetic R/C Work Mats by CowRC. The post attracted the attention of Heath, proprietor of CoreRC. The Micro measures 12 by 9 inches or approximately 30.5 x 23cm and would be most suitable for those running 1/24th or 1/18th model IF one feels one needs to place the car on the mat. If you race the larger scales you can also use the Mini just as well. Since the design is such that there is a large cut-out and six smaller ones, you can conveniently place your tools so they won't roll off your table. The smaller cut-outs are naturally suited for your other bits and bobs.
Two other sizes are available should you prefer to actually place your car in the main large cut-out. They are the Mini (18"x 12") for 200mm and of course the Jumbo (30"x 24") which is more suited for 1/8th size models.
The mat is made of two main parts:- dense foam at the top and a non slip laminated heavy plastic as the base. The cut outs featuring removable inserts and although made of dense, tough foam, the mat is actually quite light. What I like the most is how the mat settles flat on the table as soon as you place it down giving you the impression of a solid, bottom heavy work surface. I can forsee this mat will conveniently place by the side of my set-up board on my pit table next time I go racing. Removing the inserts in the cut-outs reveal an easy to clean matte white work surface. The foam itself is solidly bonded to the work surface and quality of this whole item appears very high and well made.

Having had this in my own hot hands, I personally think the Screw Catcher Magnetic R/C Work Mat is one of those "must haves" for your pit table and if we had a rating system, I'd easily give it a 10 out of 10 - now go get one for yourselves!
