The Thurston racing family recently paid a visit to the newly completed Ardent Raceway indoor EP track. Julie Thurston was so impressed with the facility that she sent this report for 3hobby.net readers and hopefully you will all go race there...

I don't know if you have heard about a new electric racetrack called Ardent Raceway? We are lucky because it is only 15 mins away from us and right near to Donington Park. It is a big unit with a great carpet track, very well laid out with good pit space. It has a shop selling electric stuff and a cafe and even a playroom for the dad's who want to bring their children and can leave them safely whilst they race.

The couple who have done all this are really nice people and obviousley have a real love for the sport as well as having a young family. You may ask why we are so enthusiastic about it, but as you know our love is with 1/10th nitro but what a great place to practise all year whatever the weather whilst we are waiting for our season to begin! We will still practise there even when it (nitro) starts. A few people have been already e.g. Andy and Kyle Branson, Andy Gregory, Ben Cosgrove who think it's a great facility.

I hope (and encourage) 3hobby.net readers to know its there for all to race at. You can get the information at Ardent Raceway website and it has a calendar as well for free practise as well as race days. I took some photos but we raced at night which was well lit but the photos were too dark to see it clearly.

This is a new permanent track in the East Midlands and a facility boasting the following features: 1 x Large carpet track, 1 x elec off-road track, 1 x shop, 8 x pit benches (10 people on each), 80 x chairs, 1 x kitchen, 1 x indoor marquee dining area with seating for 24 people with children’s play area and heating, 1 x PS3 with flat screen TV, 2 x comfy track side sofas with heating!, 1 x six foot high rostrum, 1 x rock crawling corner, 100 parking spaces, 1 x warm welcome for anyone who wants to have fun with RC cars.
For more info visit http://www.ardentracing.com/raceway/ We hope to see you there! All profits go to promoting the hobby and the facility. Staffed by volunteers who race!
